Call for Papers - Annual Scottish Maritime History Conference
Papers are invited for this one-day conference to be held at the Mitchell Library, Glasgow on current research on any aspect of Scottish and/or international maritime history.
Please provide a short synopsis of your intended topic and a brief description of interests, affiliation etc., to the conference orgainisers, Professor Hugh Murphy and Dr Martin Bellamy at martin.bellamy@snr.org.uk.
Last date for proposals is 30 July 2023.
The organisers are unable to pay speakers’ travel or hotel costs or other expenses, but there is no conference fee for participants or audience. Refreshments and a sandwich lunch will be provided.
Presentations should be restricted to 20 to 25 minutes maximum duration, with five to ten minutes for questions. A full range of media is available to presenters.
There will be an evening lecture and reception hosted by the University of Glasgow on Wednesday 18 October, given by Professor Stig Tenold of the Norwegian School of Economics, Bergen, title to be confirmed.
The conference is held in conjunction with Glasgow Museums, The Centre for Business History in Scotland, University of Glasgow, The Society for Nautical Research and Lloyd’s Register Foundation.
