Doctoral Prize nominations open

The British Commission for Maritime History awards an annual prize of £200, sponsored by the publishers Boydell & Brewer, for the best maritime history doctoral thesis.  We view maritime history as a wide-ranging discipline and in the past nominations have come from departments of geography, economics, languages, archaeology, classics, business, technology, as well as history.

Those who have been awarded doctorates in the past academic year, 2023-2024, are eligible. The deadline for nominations is 1st December 2024.

Nominations may be made by the candidate or supervisor.

Details and the nomination form are available on the British Commission for Maritime History website Doctoral Prize pages.
